Pizza places in the United States run from a counter with two stools and a stack of boxes to a full sit-down pizzeria with a bar, and most neighborhood shops do all three things at once: dine-in, takeout and delivery. Ordering by phone is still common and often faster than an app, and many independents charge less when you call direct because there is no platform fee. Sizes are usually listed in inches (a small around 10", a large 14", an extra-large 16" or more), and a large feeds two to three adults. Slices are sold from a display case at New York-style counters and reheated to order; whole pies take 15-25 minutes at a busy shop. Most spots take cards and mobile pay, though a few older pizzerias remain cash-only, so check the door or the listing before you order.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 amβ4 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach ARTIE'S at (973) 378-5800; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, artiesnj.com.
Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 1,575 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded pizza restaurants in Maplewood.
Maplewood is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Maplewood is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New Jersey's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

A couple visits in and Artie's continues to impress. We went big with friends this time: the Maple Bacon pizza and the Santo, plus two pastas, the farmer's salad, and green beans. The Maple Bacon pizza was the standout, with that classic Neapolitan char, generous pancetta, and a crust so good we asked for extra dipping sauce just to make sure none of it went to waste. We each got drinks too, and my Manhattan was exquisite, perfectly balanced. Everything else held its own too, fresh, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. There's a parking lot in the back, which is a nice bonus if you're driving in. Great spot for a group dinner where everyone wants to share a little of everything.

My first dine-in experience at Artieβs in Maplewood was excellent from start to finish. I arrived around 5:15 p.m. on a Saturday and was immediately greeted warmly by the hostess, who seated me right away in a comfortable area. The restaurant was lively and busy with many families and groups, but the noise level still felt very manageable and pleasant. The atmosphere struck a great balance between energetic and relaxed. I ordered the meatballs, the maple bacon pizza, and a Sbagliato, all of which were delicious. The drink was especially well made and refreshing. The waitstaff throughout the evening were attentive, professional, and genuinely pleasant. Overall, the experience felt welcoming, organized, and enjoyable. I would definitely return and would happily bring friends or family in the future.

My sister and I decided to give it a try today for a quick lunch and check out the pastries. Luckily we found parking in the back (which I didnβt know after passing it the first time around), and there was no wait time. ***The location is a bit odd and hidden in an industrial/warehouse area so donβt think youβre going in the wrong direction! The pastries look all so good, and I honestly wanted one of each π, but settled with 5. The croissants were are so fresh and flaky - the one with Nutella was my fav! We order for lunch the meatball app with side of bread, and the prosciutto sandwich. Both were very good, and would get the meatballs again and next time try the pizzas. I personally wish there was more space in between tables where we were seated. I felt I was on top of the other guest next to us. Overall will be back when Iβm in the area again, and would recommend others to give them a try! Itβs def a hidden gem.

Never disappoints and have been coming to Artieβs since it was Arturoβs in old location. Loved that the favorite cinghale pasta is with pappardelle vs the penne We tried the daily pasta which was wonderful Pizza as usual and meatballs always fantastic (am dying to find out the recipe of the meatballs! Which is the most moist ever) We always buy some pastries whole there and whatever that almond brioche sort of French toast was was soooo good this AMβ¦ that needs to stay on the weekly rotation if not already Only wish is a few more pasta options even one or two more would be nice And the acoustics is a bit loud but will not deter from coming back! We always need to be loud when talking to each other in case others are liking for quiet
